We heartily welcome your participation in

The 2nd Biennial Conference of the East Asian Regional Association of IMS,
Taipei October 18th to 20th, 2013

Musics in the Shifting Global Order

From the beginnings of European colonial expansion to the post-Cold-War era, music has been embedded in formations of global order that at once enable and constrain musical activities within and across geopolitical and sociocultural borders. This international conference aims to examine a diversity of issues and topics regarding the historical trajectories and current articulations of music in the global age defined broadly, with special emphasis on listening to the voices of researchers who work in East Asia.
The East Asian Regional Association of the International Musicological Society (IMS-EA) was founded in 2011 with the aim to provide a forum for exchanges among music researchers in the region, regardless of their areas of specializations and subjects of studies. It holds its second conference at National Taiwan University in the fall of 2013, hosted by the Graduate Institute of Musicology.

The National Taiwan University, with the main campus situated in the lively Gong-guan area of Taipei, is a world ranking research university with colleges in all fields of humanities and sciences. The Graduate Institute of Musicology, founded in 1996, is dedicated to cultivating music research talents, building up a Taiwanese musicology community, and strengthening international scholarly exchange. Its educational goals are to integrate the sub-disciplines of musicology and promote interdisciplinary studies, and to develop approaches and methodologies that reflect the fusion of Asian characteristic and local perspectives.

Looking forward to meeting you here!
