Wang Shin-shin, the Music Director of Shin-Shin Nanguan
Ensemble, grew up in the birthplace of nanguan music --Quanzhou City,
in the southern Chinese province of Fujian. Wang began her study of
nanguan music at the early age of four. Ultimately, she became most
famous for her exceptional voice and singing skills. Wang was a music
instructor at Quanzhou Nanyin Music Ensemble in China and was the Music
Director of Taipei's Han-Tang Yuefu Music Ensemble. She is a frequent
guest performer in arts and music events around the world, among them,
marked the Avignon Festival in France, the Flanders Festival in
Belgium, a music conference in the Netherlands, “Les
Orientals” festivals in France and Portugal, as well as
performances organized by La Peniche Opera in Paris, and performances
in New York. She received a “Gold Tripod Award for the Best
Singing” in 1995. Her album "Nostalgia in Moonlight" earned
“a Golden Melody Award for the Best Ethnic Music
Album” Wang herself was nominated for the Best Producer for
the that award winning recording. Wang Shin-shin currently teaches at
the Graduate Institute of Musicology at the National Taiwan University.
